The South Eastern Conference (SEC) is a U.S. college athletic conference with members located in the South East of the United States. The headquarters of SEC is located in Birmingham, Alabama. It participates in the Division I of the National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) in different sports and in Football Bowl Subdivision in football. The South Eastern Conference is considered as one of the most successful in terms of finance, with revenue of $220 million for the fiscal year of 2010-2011. The SEC was also the very first NCAA competitor to hold championship football game for college division.

Current universities under the South Eastern Conference are University of Florida (Gators), University of Georgia (Bulldogs), University of Kentucky (Wildcats), University of South Carolina (Gamecock), University of Tennessee (Volunteers), Vanderbilt University (Commodores), University of Alabama (Crimson Tide), University of Arkansas (Razorbacks), Auburn University (Tigers), Louisiana State University (Fighting Tigers), Mississippi State University (Bulldogs), and University of Mississippi (Rebels).

Members of the South Eastern Conference compete in baseball (men’s division), basketball (men and women’s division), cross county (men’s division except for South Carolina and women’s division), football (men’s division), golf (men and women’s division), gymnastics (women’s division in Arkansas, Alabama, Florida, Auburn, Georgia, Florida, LSU and Kentucky only), indoor track and field (men and women’s division), outdoor track and field (men’s division except Vanderbilt and women’s division), soccer (women’s division), softball (women’s division except Vanderbilt), swimming and diving (men’s division except MSU, Arkansas, Vanderbilt, and Ole Miss and women’s division except Ole Miss and MSU), tennis (men and women’s division), and volleyball ( women’s division except Vanderbilt).
