Totes and Bags
What is the difference between a picnic tote and a picnic basket? A lot of people get confused by the terminology, but anything described as totes and bags tends to mean that they are made from soft fabric, feature shoulder straps or handles, and utilize a barrel-like structure. They will never be made from the woven willow that a lot of picnic baskets feature as well.
Are totes and bags any better, or worse, for picnics? They are equally useful, but it helps to understand how they can be used in order to know how to incorporate them effectively into your personal collection of picnic gear. For example, our lineup of totes and bags includes picnic totes, insulated totes, and lunch bags among a few other styles.
While some of our totes and bags will come completely empty, it doesn’t mean that their usefulness is limited. For instance, all of our Topanga Cooler Totes are designed with totally stylish and contemporary looks. They can serve as summery bags, but they are actually functional coolers too! This means that you can easily transport cold drinks, meats, sandwiches, and salads in these good-looking shoulder bags.
We also make very expansive picnic totes available too. These are not empty bags but are instead full of the different plates, cups, and cutlery necessary for an outdoor meal. These too have an insulated “body” that serves as a powerful cooler, but these totes don’t have the looks of an insulated lunch bag or collapsible cooler. They tend to have the same looks as the empty bags - meaning that they look just like stylish summer tote bags.
We are also happy to offer a few more complex totes and bags such as our wine and cheese totes. These come in a nice range of styles, and most are designed to provide service for two people. The totes can easily carry one or two bottles of wine and come with the glasses and accessories needed for opening and transporting the bottles if they are not completely consumed. The bags also come with cheeseboards, knives, and linens as well.
If you are looking for an attractive and comfortable way to transport your light picnic, our totes are a good solution. If you are also in need of an additional carrying piece that coordinates with your other picnic gear, we will certainly have a good array of choices for you to “mix and match” with your existing picnic baskets and hampers as well.
