Cutting Boards

A lot of frequent picnickers overlook the need for cutting boards. This is due to the fact that they always envision their food as being ready to serve when they head out the door with their coolers and picnic baskets. This is not usually a correct perception, however, and many cooler lids and nearby rocks have had to serve in place of safer and more sanitary cutting boards.

We make a great array of highly portable and useful cutting boards available. We are happy to offer styles that work well for tailgating enthusiasts, but we also make a few very convenient designs available for the classic picnic crowd as well.

For example, the Herb Chop Block is ideally suited to the kitchen, but the unit features a storage slot for the chopping blade, and this means that it is an ideal tool for serving cheeses and meats when on a picnic. The various sports-themed cutting boards are attractive and lightweight, and can also be flipped over to conceal their design. This means that they are a good choice for someone hiking to the beach, park or into the woods for a picnic too.

Consider that the Touchdown! Cutting board does not reveal its food pattern on the reverse, though the surface is perfect for cutting and slicing. The same can be said of the Goal!, Homerun!, and Free Throw cutting boards as well.

If your picnic is going to be nearby and will not ask you to tote your supplies a tremendous distance, we have some truly gorgeous cutting boards that can serve as serving pieces too. The Cambria Cheese Board and the Oval Cutting Board are both extremely good looking surfaces that could be used for food prep, but can also be the perfect spots for a cheese board or for some hors d’oeuvres as well.

When considering your list of “mandatory” picnic supplies, try not to overlook the need for a safe, sturdy, and reliable cutting surface. Some of the worst injuries come from dull knives, but some fairly bad cuts can come from trying to work on an unsuitable surface too. Simply sliding a good cutting board into a tote, picnic basket or backpack will usually make a lot of difference in the amount of time and effort necessary for your food preparations, and will make your table setting even more beautiful than you originally imagined.
